The Friendship Tree…
…We looked at our faces and hands and learnt more about the
friends in our classroom. It shows our
personalities.
We know that:
- Friends will tell the truth
- Friends will make you smile
- Friends stick together
- A true friend looks after you.
My Place and the Moreton Bay Fig Tree
By Toby (Year 4)
This term we have been looking at the video about My Place-
a story about Australian people through the eyes of children living in
different decades of Australia from 2008 back to 1888. These children always
lived in the same street and played in, under and around a beautiful tree
called the Moreton Bay Fig.
The series is based on a message and problems that the
children face and solve just like in a narrative story. It is sometimes sad but
it always turns out happy in the end. When you look closely, you can see the
terrain of Australia changing over the years.
Last week in groups we researched the Moreton Bay Fig Tree and
learnt some really interesting information about it. For example, did you know
it was named after a place where it was found called Moreton Bay in Queensland?
Or that it can only be pollinated by fig wasps?
After our research we were creative and made our own Moreton
Bay Fig Tree.
On a side note, there is another interesting thing I found
out- there is a type of seafood called the Moreton Bay Bug and it’s also found
in Moreton Bay, Queensland! I found it a bit salty when I ate it at a
restaurant but that could have been the Chefs fault. Most of my teachers in 3
/4 love eating it in a garlic sauce!
I love all the lively photographs.
ReplyDeleteSchool looks like fun.
